Scott
E., 2001 Coordinator, created a magnificant show. There were 55 trees,
33 accent plants and 8 developing bonsai -- all provided by 20 different
members. There were 22 tree-sitters and 7 vendors at the outdoor
marketplace. Only two or three of the trees were duplicate species,
and many had never been in a show before -- showing true diversity of talent
and interests in the Bonsai Society of Portland. Some Innovations
were:
A new layout enabling all trees
to be featured equally.
Tables of bonsai-in-progress
set up outside the Pavilion where demonstrations by club members proved
to be very popular with visitors.
Sunday morning critique of the
show -- a time for sharing new ways of looking at bonsai along with some
good food.
