BSOP Mentorship Group
Monthly Mentorship meetings are open to all members, both beginning and experienced.
Meetings are free, but sometimes there is a materials charge.
Usually meets at St. Phillip Neri Church in a room in the Office building, to the west of Carvlin Hall.

The Mentorship Program is designed to help both newer members in need of learning the basics and experienced members wanting to sharpen their skills and keep their techniques up to date. The Program is open to ALL current BSOP members.

The Program has three specific goals:
  • Quickly increase members' skills and the quality of their trees.
  • Help integrate new members into the club by meeting more established members in a casual setting outside of the monthly Society Meeting.
  • Help established members refine their skills and share knowledge with less experienced members.

  • January 16th - 2-5pm - Birds Nest Spruce Study Group - St. Philip Neri Church; For further details email scottice@mac.com
  • February 20th - 2-5pm - Soil Basics - For location and program details email scottice@mac.com
    • Annual soil mixer, includes a quick discussion on soil and why we use it.
  • March 20th - 2-5pm - Repotting - St. Philip Neri Church (St. Paul Room); Please RSVP to Scott Tice via email scottice@mac.com
    •  A quick recap on the soil made last month; then repotting techniques and pot selection.
  • April 17th -  2-5 pm - Basic Design & Styling - St. Philip Neri Church (St. Paul Room) ; For further details email scottice@mac.com
    •  Includes branch placement, pruning, wiring and some pot selection.
  • May 15th -  2-5 pm - Fertilizer Balls - For further details email scottice@mac.com
    •  Annual fertilizer 'mixer'. $5 contribution for supplies.
  • June 19th -  2-5 pm - Wire & Wiring - St. Philip Neri Church (St. Paul Room); Please RSVP to Scott Tice via email scottice@mac.com
    •  Focus of discussion around wiring techniques.
