As a member of the Bonsai Society of Portland, you will have access to:
Monthly Meetings
The Society meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month, except during the summer. Activities begin at 6:00PM, meetings begin at 7:00PM. Programs are thought provoking and informative, with lectures and demonstrations by guest artists from all over the world (including members with decades of experience) who offer valuable insights on bonsai.
The monthly meetings are known behind the scenes as the “10 Ring Circus”, offering valuable resources to members such as:
Extensive vendor area - Offering essential bonsai needs from trees, tools, pots and everything in between
Silent Auction - Where members can bring trees and materials to sell, as well as add new items to their collection
Monthly Raffle - Each member receives 3 raffle tickets at the door (and can purchase more) and use each ticket for a chance to win an items in the monthly raffle
Library - Members can check out iconic bonsai books/magazines/multimedia from our vast library, to be returned at the next monthly meeting
Formal Display - High quality displays every month, showing trees in refinement and viewed in front of a backdrop (occasionally we are treated with award winning trees from our generous members)
Show & Tell - Members can bring material in development and show off their hard work, a frequent conversation starter
Mentorship
Our mentorship programs are some of our most in-demand educational programming. We have a knowledgeable and dedicated team of mentors that run mentorship 101 and 102 programs, exclusively for members.
Workshops
Members enjoy exclusive access to workshops from our visiting artists (when available).
Monthly Newsletter
Keep up with current events with our monthly newsletter. The newsletter offers recaps of recent events, pictures, and other informative articles and resources provided by our generous and experienced membership.
Members may request that an article or advertisement be placed in the monthly TreeLine newsletter. Acceptance is at the discretion of the current Editor and/or BSOP board members. Please confine articles to subjects that might be of interest to BSOP members. These should be edited and ready to publish in the Newsletter. Generally articles are accepted around the 10th of the month. Please contact Peter Pelofske, TreeLine Editor, for more details and for submission format information.

The annual BSOP Holiday Party is a highlight of the calendar. Members sit down for a mixture of delicious potluck and catered snacks and desserts while enjoying a jam packed afternoon of socialization and fun. The holiday party typically includes our biggest auction of the year in addition to a best decorated tree contest
Exclusive Web Content
Members enjoy unlimited access to our exclusive web content including recordings of select past general meetings and special events.
e-Blast Network
Members may request an all-member e-blast to inform or promote appropriate bonsai related sales, information or activities. Text and possible photos ( jpg ) may be submitted to the Membership Chair, who will disseminate at the earliest possible time, or will schedule for future distribution at member's request. Please make sure that your message is submitted at least 2 days in advance. Timing and acceptance are at the discretion of the Membership Chair.
